Carrie Barber
DNP, APRN, CNM, OB/GYN NP, C-EFM
Dr. Carrie
Barber is
the owner, founder, and principal medical legal consultant at Barber Medical Legal Nurse
Consulting, LLC, an independent medical legal consulting practice approved by
the Florida Board of Nurses as a continuing education
(CE) provider. Dr. Barber is an advanced practice registered nurse, certified nurse
midwife, and board-certified OB/GYN nurse practitioner with over 26 years of clinical experience in
healthcare. She is a clinically active certified nurse midwife with a sub-specialty
certification from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) in Electronic
Fetal Monitoring. Dr. Barber practices at a level III perinatal center where
she is responsible for obstetrical triage, intrapartum, and postpartum
management. She
has practiced women’s health care in various
settings including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and academia. Dr. Barber is a former labor and
delivery nursing director for a level I community hospital, and has experience serving as a
nursing professor teaching
maternity nursing, nursing leadership and
management, and healthcare policy. Dr. Barber's medical
legal background offers unique perspectives, and understanding of the links
between perinatal medicine, risk management, education, and the law.
